Great day today! I had a wonderful time walking through the park in prayer, nice latte at Sbux with some good time in God’s Word, and then some personal worship that nourished my spirit as I walked back to wake the rest of the team.
After a good breakfast, we took the MTR (subway) to Lantau Island. From there we boarded a glass bottomed cable car 3500 feet up the mountain to the Po Lin Monestery and the Ngong Ping (big Buddha.)
Buddhism has an interesting philosophy, built on the ‘Four Noble Truths:’ Life means suffering; The origin of suffering is attachment; The cessation of suffering is attainable; The path to the cessation of suffering (it is an 8-fold path: right view, right intention, right speech, right action, right livelihood, right effort, right mindfulness, and right concentration —that’s a lot

of things to get right.)
Simply put, I’m so glad to know Jesus –the embodiment of Truth. Bryan observed that while the steps up to the big buddha were many, Jesus came down to us. And, while the way is complicated and leads to nothingness for a Buddhist, the Way leads to life when following Jesus.
With great respect for those who look for life and peace in the Buddha, I’m glad for us to learn about this religion that so many in Asia have given themselves to. We prayed at the base of the Buddha today that those who looked up at this large idol would somehow be drawn into the light and love of Jesus.

Having a little fun on the way back down the mountain…

WOW! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL RIDE ON THE TRAM! IT LOOKS LIKE THE WEATHER IS TERRIFIC! GOD BLESS! JS
What a blessing to follow your journey. We miss you all, but are confident that God is doing great things through you! By the way, the tram looks like the way to travel, we should install one from my house to the church.
Zephaniah and I looked through your Asia pictures and videos. Z especially likes the video of the cable car.
Thanks for sharing the world with us!
