  • 30% of pastors admit to sexual impropriety sometime during the course of their lifetime.
  • For restoration, we need both to take seriously the integrity of trust that congregations put into its leadership, and also the integrity of being the body of Christ.
  • What can be done for protection:
    • Staff covenant
    • Lead pastor has ‘sex-temptation talk’ with staff yearly
    • Consider the destructiveness and repulsiveness of sin
    • Avoid the moment of the ‘maybe’ (sin is rationalized, playing with the thought)
  • Five “R’s” of resisting temptation
    • Remember who you are – follower of Jesus, husband, father, leader in the church. . .
    • Recognize the consequences of your actions – (imagine the worst possible outcome – cost)
    • Rededicate yourself to God
    • Reveal your struggle to a trusted friend (James 5:16)
    • Remove yourself from the situation (do whatever is necessary to remove yourself from sin)
  • No one is beyond redemption!
